There are three words to describe northern Ontario - rocks, trees and lakes. The thick forests make this a natural paradise for land animals including bears, deer and moose.

There are over a million lakes here teaming with pike, trout and bass. Of course, the Great Lakes are the most famous and the quaint towns along their shores make for quiet retreats to relax and reconnect with nature.

When we drove across Ontario (which took 2 entire days), we were surprised to see the beauty of the forests and the glacier-scoured landscape.

Ontario's backcountry offers unlimited recreational activities including hiking, biking, sailing, fishing and nature viewing.

We were told that in the winter, snowmobiling, skiing and ice-fishing are a perfect way to spend a cold but sunny day.
