Coast Collective Art Center - Esquimalt Lagoon, Victoria, BC
Located close to the Esquimalt Lagoon, is the 11 acre ground that features a welcoming gated entry, small stone bridges and the restored Pendray House which now promotes BC art-culture.
The property is nestled between a picturesque migratory bird sanctuary and a spectacular urban forest. A beautiful vista of the city of Victoria in the distance can be seen. It's a classic west-coast setting has been fortunately left hidden from the rest of the world.
Past the huge Douglas firs and cedars, around the corner and down the avenue of 100 year old Maples, you'll discover the small stone cottage built by the Beesmyers in 1908. Along the way, you'll pass the floating garden and land art.
Follow the path over the second stone bridge and you'll come to the old Pendray House. The place is bursting at the seams with art-pieces, workshops, classes and artists-in-residence. The gallery has some some of the best ocean views on southern Vancouver Island.
In the barn, are working studios with bustling artists who hang new collections every few weeks. Four magical rooms are filled with extraordinary crafts and collections for people to peruse.
There are pieces for all budgets including works from potters, painters, fabric artists. Glass artists, doll artisans and silversmiths present their works as well.
The art on the walls compliments the natural beauty and wildlife that surrounds the property. Swans, otters, king fishers, mink and deer are local residents. Osprey diving or herons hunting are very common sights. Occasionally, a Vancouver Island black bear will stroll by looking for bounty from the local fruit trees.
